Sara Pell lived and breathed horses from an early age and although brought up in a city, took every opportunity to be with horses and through her local pony club, became an accomplished show jumper and competition rider.

She was introduced to the Spanish Breed by a friend and from that moment developed a passion for these beautiful and intelligent horses. From modest beginnings the stud has grown year by year and now has 7 registered pure bred breeding stallions, 15 registered pure bred mares and various home bred young stock.

History
The Stud was formed in the autumn 1991 with a wedding present from Sara's late father - British bred PRE Spanish Mare Danes Bienvenida. Bienvenida went on to succeed at national breed shows becoming Reserve Female Champion in 1995, Female Champion in 1996 and Dutch Female Champion in 2000.

In early 2000 Sara's husband's work took him to Holland and Sara, their two young girls and 12 or so horses and stable equipment followed a few months later in a convoy of lorries.
This turned out to be a short stay of only 18 months before another job move created the opportunity to set up a permanent home and business in France.

Today
Throughout her career with Spanish Horses, Sara has concentrated on breeding a few, quality, true to type horses each year. Attention is paid to creating a natural, stress free environment for the mares and foals in the belief that this will be reflected in the temperament of the adult.

The Stud has become something of an attraction in the Dordogne and is a much admired by local people who find every excuse to call in and visit the horses. As each foal is put out to grass on day two or three, the new poulain is the talk of the village and results in a wave of callers.

Many of the horses have enjoyed success at various top level competitions in France and Candela XXVII (daughter of Bienvenida) was the first pure bred Spanish mare in France to be awarded the designation 'suitable for breeding potential dressage horses' by the national organization- France Dressage
